Upon the suggestion of my new foodie friend and trivia companion, Noelle, my Sunday morning started off just right at SPoT! in Norwood. This is the sort of place that you should arrive at early, but still expect a line because it is that good. It is deceiving at first because this tiny corner space looks like a convenience store as soon as you walk in, with old-timey advertisements, candies, and bottles lining the walls and the shelves that direct the line to the counter, but it is so much more than that.
There were about ten people waiting when we walked in, though the service was quick and it gave us some time to scan the menu. SPoT!’s menu not only boasts a range of homemade bagel and cream cheese spreads, it also offers sandwiches, grilled cheese, and hot dogs for breakfast and lunchtime. And whether you’re in the mood for hot or iced coffee, freshly squeezed juice, Del’s Lemonade, or coffee milk (for those Rhode Islanders that migrate slightly north), or any kind of craft soda imaginable, you’re in luck at SPoT!
I ordered the Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich on an Everything Bagel ($3.69). It was perfection in a single, Styrofoam container. The sausage was spicy and the eggs were like a blanket for the gooey cheese inside. I also ordered an Iced S’mores Mocha Coffee ($2.49) and am almost afraid to admit that it was wayyyyyy better than Dunkin’ Donuts. (Is that blasphemous in New England?)
Daina and Noelle ordered its brother—the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a Plain and Sesame Bagel respectively ($3.69). Daina said through a mouthful of cheesy goodness that she was “very into it” and Noelle was impressed that the egg tasted so fresh and that everything was cooked to order right in front of us.
Our other trivia mate, Chris also joined in on the breakfast sandwich train with the Veggie, Egg, and Cheese on an Everything Bagel ($3.69). The bagel was warm, buttery, and perfectly toasted.
I suggest taking a weekend trip over to SPoT! so you can fully enjoy the experience with no time crunch! Nothing can beat the price and the flavor of whatever you decide to order!
